Salesforce Data 360 Winter ’26: From Stored Data to Experiences That Respond

Publication date: November 1, 2026
A customer starts an online application, gets distracted and closes the tab. Marketing notices the abandonment the next day, after the overnight report finally finishes updating. The data was accurate. The opportunity had already moved on.
Last year, our Winter ’25 Data Cloud Consultant article focused on organizing, connecting and understanding customer data. Now the platform has a new name too: Salesforce renamed Data Cloud to Data 360 in October 2025. The Winter ’26 certification update raises the next question: once we understand the customer, what should happen next?
The answer is not to collect every possible event at maximum speed. It is to decide which moments need a reaction, which can wait until tomorrow and how much each decision costs. A CDP that makes everything real time might just make its invoices arrive faster.
When customers move, data should keep up
Hyperforce expanded Data 360 availability to 17 countries, including regions in France, Indonesia, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. For multinational teams, local infrastructure shapes data residency, latency and compliance planning. It does not automatically make every architecture GDPR- or LGPD-compliant: contractual region, processing flows and implementation still matter.
Real-Time Data Actions and sub-second profile capabilities bring meaningful changes closer to downstream actions. A loyalty member could qualify for a benefit and receive a timely response; a service team could be alerted to a relevant event. Those capabilities require the appropriate real-time setup, graph design and entitlements, rather than simply enabling one generic switch.
Salesforce also distinguishes streaming ingestion, for incremental events, from batch ingestion, for large volumes that do not need immediate processing. Even with real-time APIs, identity keys, transformation logic, network conditions and activation destinations influence actual latency. Fast ingestion is not the same as instantly making every downstream decision.
Consider a financial institution, without referencing any real client. Someone leaves an application halfway through. A relevant, consented follow-up may help. But if they finished the process in a branch five minutes earlier, the same automated message could be embarrassing. The winner is not the fastest system; it is the one with the right context and suppression rules.
The unglamorous work that makes speed sustainable
Digital Wallet and Data Services consumption monitoring make costs visible. This matters during high-volume campaigns: higher update frequency comes with architectural and financial consequences. Limits, licensing and access rights deserve as much attention as the attractive demos.
Data 360 One and companion orgs allow Salesforce organizations to use capabilities shared from a home org, subject to ownership and permission rules. They can reduce unnecessary duplication, but they are not shortcuts around governance. Sandboxes, data kits and deployment tooling help teams test changes before sending them into production.
Seen from MarTech, Winter ’26 is about moving integration, decisioning and execution closer together without losing control. Data that arrives too late can be almost as unhelpful as data that never arrives. Data arriving quickly without identity, context or consent can be worse.
Perhaps the next CDP planning session should begin with a different question. Instead of asking how many millions of profiles we can store, which five moments would genuinely become better customer experiences if we responded in time?
